Senator Sullivan & Rep. Begich’s ‘Big Ugly’ Law Still No Help to Working People

Washington D.C. – The latest jobs report from the U.S. Labor Department finds the Trump economy generated just a paltry 29,000 jobs last month while the unemployment rate rose to 4.2 percent. Meanwhile, gas prices are hovering above $4.40 a gallon nationally – an all-time high at this time of year – while overall consumer prices are 3.4% higherthan they were a year ago. These abysmal economic indicators are a far cry from Donald Trump’s claims that the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ would deliver “the strongest economy on Earth” after giving billionaires and big corporations a trillion-dollar tax break paid for with the largest cuts to health care in U.S. history. Meanwhile, Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and U.S. Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK-AL) have expressed no regret for helping pass the Big Ugly Law and manufacturing the GOP health care affordability crisis.

Brad Woodhouse, president of Save My Care: “Jobs are getting scarce, costs keep blowing up, and more patients are denied health care by the day. Senator Sullivan, Rep. Begich — how much longer should working families wait for your billionaire tax scam to trickle down? Trump’s Big Ugly Law shot the economy in the foot while robbing millions of Americans of their health care, and Senator Sullivan and Rep. Begich pretend it was all worth it. They’re certainly worth every penny to the billionaires and price-gouging corporations who put them in Congress.”
