Washington D.C. — On the heels of an anemic jobs report, the U.S. Labor Department’s latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report shows consumer prices jumped another 0.6% in September compared to August, with overall prices 3.7% higher than a year ago. Despite his own administration’s data to the contrary, last night, pathological liar Donald Trump boldly claimed “We don’t have inflation”.
Last year the Trump White House also claimed the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ — passed by Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) —“will supercharge our economy” and “drive down the cost of living”. In reality, the ‘Big Ugly’ law created a GOP health care affordability crisis by robbing $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to pay for trillion-dollar tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. This year, health care premiums skyrocketed an average of 25 percent for all Americans, while fewer than half now say they can consistently afford health care according to the latest Gallup polling.
“Senator Marshall helped Donald Trump make the largest cuts to health care in U.S. history with the promise of lower costs across the board. Over a year later, American working families are paying out the nose for gas, groceries, housing, and health premiums,” said Brad Woodhouse, president of Save My Care. “The GOP’s ‘Big Ugly’ tax scam padded profits of greedy corporations and bought billionaires more yachts, while everyday Americans foot the bill with higher costs and less health coverage. They have nothing to show for it but scarcer jobs and worse inflation. The fewer Trump accomplices like Roger Marshall remain in Congress, the sooner the devastating ‘Big Ugly’ cuts will be restored for everyone’s benefit. Senator Marshall’s mega-donors don’t need more tax giveaways at the expense of working people and the economy, but he’d do it all over again if given the chance.”
